Illum iċ-Ċentru ta’ Riżorsi tagħna saret iċ-ċerimonja tat-Tqassim taċ-Ċertifikati lill-Parteċipanti li ħadu sehem fil-Kors tal-Fotografija bħala parti mill (YRE) – Young Reporters for the Environment fi ħdan l-Ekoskola. Matul din is-sena ingħata taħriġ lill-grupp ta’ studenti dwar il-fotografija mir-rappreżentanti tal-YRE f’Malta fi ħdan Ekoskola u Nature Trust. Dan il-kors kien jikkonsisti f’sessjoni prattika u teoretika u sar fiċ-Ċentru fi tlett ġranet differenti. L-istudenti ħadu gost ferm u pparteċipaw attiv. Is-sessjoni teoretika kienet tikkonsisti dwar l-użu tal-kamera u l-funzjonijiet differenti u t-teknika ta’ kif tieħu ritratt tajjeb, fosthom il-komposizzjoni, id-dwal, u l-angolu. Intwerew ukoll eżempji tajbin ta’ kif ikun ritratt tajjeb. Wara kien imiss is-sessjoni prattika fejn l-istudenti daru kull kantuniera tal-ġonna u tal-iskola sabiex jieħdu ritratti diversi ta’ affarijiet differenti. Nista ngħid li r-ritratti li ħadu kienu tajbin ħafna. Dan ħareġ mill-evalwazzjoni li saret mill-istudenti stess. Dawn ir-ritratti daħlu għall-kompetizzjoni u eventwalment ingħataw ċertifikat. Erba’ studenti Warren Cordina, Malik Hussein , Christian Abela u Emanuel Camilleri kienu rekkomandati bħala l-isbaħ ritratti.

No more rehearsals were required. At last the day, everyone had been waiting for finally arrived. The students were going to perform in the streets of Valletta! By 9.30, all the students were at La Valette Square and were ready to kick-start the event accompanied by the Centre’s staff and also some parents. Joining the event were foreigners who were participating in the Art-is festival which was taking place in the next three days. First in line was a flash-mob directed by Mr.Douglas Comley where students danced and enjoyed themselves together with people who stopped by and continued with the non-stop dancing. After, it was the turn to sing the two songs recorded on the CD Way Forward directed by Phyllisienne Brincat. Even during the singing, the dancing didn’t stop! For the last performance, Peter Paul Galea led the students to perform a percussional music session. The students shared with people passing by the instruments they created with recyclable material during the Music and Drama lessons in order to participate with them. The students took a 10 minutes break and repeated all the performances once again. It was an incredible experience!

On 27th May 2015, two of the Centre’s EkoSkola students were given the opportunity to attend the 11th EkoSkola Parliament Session. These 2 students travelled to Valletta independently by public transport where they met with members of our team to attend this event. Our Centre was one of the 25 schools attending and our students had the opportunity to sit in the Debating Chamber together with MPs. They also found the time to introduce themselves and briefly converse with the MPs present. During the session, a motion addressing issues of equality and world hunger was presented to the House of Representatives by the students of one of the schools present on behalf of EkoSkola Malta. EkoSkola was one of the first organisations to hold such a session with the MPs in this newParliamentary Building. This activity was a success for our students and both performed to a high standard with the high-calibre personalities present. Following the event, they once again had the opportunity to make independent use of public transport to travel back home.
