Today as part of the monthly meeting for parents organized at Dun Manwel Attard Young Adult Education Resource Centre, an informal meeting with Dr Justyne Caruana took place. All parents present were given the opportunity to question and discuss concerns about their sons and daughters. Main concerns were targeted at the way forward of our students once they terminate their attendance at the Centre.
Dr Justyne Caruana confirmed the parents’ understanding on already existing support services, upgrading and modifications that are taking place, and projects which are being processed at the moment, all targeting employability, independence and inclusion of persons with disability.
The parents were also informed about a data base which is being compiled. Information is collected on voluntary basis. Those who are interested or need further information are kindly requested to call 2590 3175. Ms.Mandy Buhagiar Policy Coordinator from the Education Department, Mr.George Said Zammit Director Student Services, and Ms.Wilma Ventura from Child Safety Services were also present.
The meeting was also addressed by Health and Safety Officers.
Bħala parti mill-EkoSkola, din is-sena tkompla l-proġett bl-isem Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE). Dan il-proġett ta l-opportunità lill-istudenti sabiex huma stess ikunu ġurnalisti tal-ambjent permezz tal-fotografija. L-ewwel parti tat-taħriġ kienet sessjoni teoretika, filwaqt li t-tieni parti kienet prattika. Se jingħażel l-aħjar ritratt ta’ kull student/a. Ir-ritratti magħżula ser ikunu ppreżentati lill-grupp nazzjonali tal-YRE f’Malta (li huwa parti min-Nature Trust Malta) u jistgħu jiġu ppublikati fil-‘YRE Newsletter’, kif ukoll jiddaħħlu f’kompetizzjoni.
1st Session of Dog Therapy was held at the Centre today together with the Service Dogs Malta Foundation. This NGO trains dogs for autism support, diabetic alert and pet therapy services. The youngsters at the Centre responded very positively to this session.
Christmas Activity was held at our Resource Centre on Monday 21st December, 2015. The activity started with a Rock Mass with the participation of the group FOOTPRINTS. Mass was celebrated by Fr Frank Cini with the full participation of students, parents and staff. Each group then presented an animated activity. The Resource Centre’s choir sang various Christmas songs. The students then enjoyed a Christmas Party which saw guest singers Destiny and Amber joining in and entertaining the students.
