Carnival Painting and Craft Competition – 23.02.16

This year we have again participated in the Carnival Painting and Craft Competition organised by The Projects & Initiatives Section, within the Directorate for Educational Services.  Our aim as a Centre is to create an educational experience that enhance the employability skills of our students and so along the process we take part in various projects. As a team we have decided that for this year’s competition we produce a carnival float in ceramics. We immediately started to work, together with our students in the Pottery studio. The idea behind our choice was that we greatly believe that Clay is a medium that gives that great freedom for students to explore their creativity and it proved so! Students were heavily engaged and showed their enthusiasm. The result of such a great effort that the learners have inputted was awarded by coming first in our category. A great thanks goes to our students who makes us each and every day proud and place the name of our Centre at the pinnacle.

Young Reporters for the Environment – 19.02.16

As part of our Centre’s Commitment towards environmental education, students attended a photography training course that was held on the 18th, 19th and 20th of January. The course was delivered by a trained professional from the YRE Malta team (within Nature Trust). YRE project ‘Young Reporters for the Environment’ – is a project that aims to carry out investigations on local environmental issues and propose solutions through investigative reporting and photojournalism. During the training course the students took good photos. Some of these photos will eventually be submitted to YRE Malta and can be published in the ‘YRE newsletter’ and in local and international competitions with the possibility of winning prizes.  Below some photos.
